Cór Comáin, translated as ‘Roscommon Choir’, is an Upper Voice Choir established in September 2017 by Roscommon native, Derek Mahady. The choir chose the name which pays tribute both to Roscommon’s patron saint and to their proud Roscommon origins. To date, the choir has helped to raise over €10,000 for charities including the Irish Motor Neurone Association and Western Alzheimers. In May 2018, Cór Comáin was awarded category winners in the First Time Competitors section of the Mayo International Choral Festival. In May 2019, the choir travelled to the UK and performed alongside three London Choirs conducted by Hannah Brine in St. Stephen’s Church, Walbrook, City of London. As part of their programme of events for 2024, the choir will travel to Dresden, Germany to take part in another exciting choral exchange.

Roscommon Solstice Choir

An amateur choir, with a BIG heart, Roscommon Solstice Choir is a voluntary, community-based choir, of about 120 members under the direction of Eimear and Andrew Reynolds from Rooskey.

The choir provides an opportunity for people to come together and sing, socialize and to raise money for charitable causes. To date we have raised in excess of €180,000 for charitable causes. Practices are held in Kilbride Community Centre, Four-Mile-House, Co. Roscommon on Sunday evenings during Spring and Autumn and two programs of up to five charity concerts each are performed in June and December each year. The choir also participates in local community events and organises social gatherings and outings for members. Membership opens twice a year, usually in February and September. Members join the choir to help others and is open to anyone, irrespective of age, class, creed, gender or ability, with no auditions and no musical expectation.
