    CSM Open Rehearsal

    The CSM Youth Vocal Ensemble is an award winning choir for 14 - 18 years open to both male and female voices. The choir sings a range of repertoire, including pop arrangements, musical theatre, barbershop and classical pieces. 
    The choir will have open rehearsal where young singers will have the chance to meet like-minded peers, sing great music and have some fun. The rehearsal will take place in room 312 in CIT Cork School of Music on Union Quay from 5:30pm to 6:45pm.

    Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral

    Choral Evensong (6:15 pm) has it's roots in the ancient monaastic offices of Vespers and Compline and is sung in the Cathedral on Fridays at 6:15pm and Sundays at 7:00pm, September to June. The responses are sung by a Cantor and the Cathedral choir (normally adults on Fridays) sing the canticles, Magnificat & Nunc Dimittis, along with an Anthem. Visitors are always welcome to come along an immerse themselves in this historic and peaceful act of worship. The Cathedral welcomes about 30,000 visitors from all over the world each year. Our experienced tour guides will be on hand to unveil the mysteries and wonders of the Cathedral’s unique architecture. From the cannon ball, to the historic Cathedral Organ in a pit, to some of the best stained glass and mosaics in Ireland, to over 1,500 sculptures and carvings, to the intricate chancle ceiling, Saint Fin Barre’s is one of the finest examples of its type in Western Europe.

Founded in 2013 Bantry Community Choir work in close partnership with West Cork Development Partnership and West Cork Mental Health Services. Members share a belief in the benefits of music and singing to positive mental health and well-being for all.     Acapellabella Community Choir, founded in 2003, is an all female choir, directed by Caz Jeffreys.     Walker’s Plinth, The Walls

    Void presents The Astronomic Weather Choir, a unique musical ensemble by artist Alex Cecchetti in collaboration with the Siege Museum and Walls 400.

    The choir will activate the plinth by singing every variation in a landscape as if they were in front of a music score, where things stop having names but become a melody.   A Walls 400 event.

    The Choir of St Eugene's Cathedral invite you to join them for an evening exploring the theme of mystery.     Conwal Parish Church, of the Church of Ireland Parish of Conwal and Gartan, dates back to the 17th century when it was constructed to replace a crumbling medieval church at Conwal, just outside Letterkenny. In recent years,  the Church tower and spire have undergone an extensive and particularly impressive refurbishment.

    The Conwal Singers, Letterkenny shall host an evening of reflective choral music with  at St.Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny. Special special guests shall including Derg Valley  Choir, Tir Chonaill  Choir  and The  Donegal Abbey  Singers. Within the splendid acoustic of St.Eunan ‘s Cathedral each choir  shall perform their own repertoire.     Lalala Pop-up Choir Classes with Sam Kavanagh

    These free workshops are an opportunity to feel the joy of singing as part of a choir. Open to all, regardless of experience and singing ability. After one hour you will leave having sung successfully as part of a pop-up choir. Led by Sam Kavanagh founder of the LaLaLa Choir. This community square singing is a tradition Sam was immersed when studying in Budapest and he’s delighted to be bringing to Ireland. This event was dreamed up by Sam in response to seeing Crampton Court for the first time. These free events are made possible with the support of Temple Bar Company and Dublin City Council and are organised by Born Optimistic.

    The National Centre for Arts and Health at Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) runs arts events throughout the year in various departments across the hospital. Events include art exhibitions, community art projects, dance projects, musical performances and the provision of a creative arts therapy service for patients.     Culture Night in Swords Library

    Swords Library celebrates Culture Night with a willow-work workshop, presentation and youth choir. Learn about the traditional crafts of willow wattling, fencing and hurdle-making from 6 pm with a hands-on demonstration and basketry display from Wicklow Willow. At 7 pm there will be a presentation of certificates and prizes to children who took part in Fingal Libraries summer stars reading programme. This will be followed by a performance by the Fingal Youth Choir, one of Ireland's leading youth choirs, at 7.30 pm.

    Chamber Choir Ireland @ NCH

    Chamber Choir Ireland's 'Composers in the Classroom' programme has operated intermittently for almost 20 years providing coaching by some of the country's leading composers to school students in Ireland and Northern Ireland. This gala concert is a performance of a selection of those works in collaboration with New Music Dublin. The programme has a long history of instilling a deep interest and love of choral music among composition students setting the standard for future generations.

    Visit this beautiful historic cathedral at the heart of Dublin City at 5pm for Sung Vespers with the boys of The Palestrina Choir.     St Andrew’s Church

    St. Andrew's Church has links to some of the most prominent and notable Irish figures such as Daniel O'Connell, Padraig & Willie Pearse, James Joyce, John Hogan, Dora Sigerson-Shorter, the Gunn brothers, and Brendan Behan to mention but a few. The talks and tours will touch on these figures. On display over the evening are Sodality Banners designed by Tony Inglis. Tony was an Irish Art Director nominated for an Academy Award for his work on - The Man Who Would Be King. The banners are rarely seen and will only be available for viewing on Culture Night. The evening concludes with performances from the current St. Andrew's Church Choir (4 Part) accompanied by organist Alexandr Nisse, a former parish organist.     To continue the tradition set over several years now, the 60 boys and girls of RTÉ Cór na nÓg , conducted by Mary Amond O'Brien, will sing on the steps of the John Field Room and get RTÉ's Culture Night in the NCH off to a great start. They will be followed by RTÉ's new youth choir, RTÉ Cór Linn, 31 singers aged 15+ who will make their debut tonight.     St Bartholomew’s Church

    Johann Sebastian Bach: A Life in Chorale Preludes. Presenter Tim Thurston and organist Andrew Johnstone survey the career of the great German composer through a 40-minute chronological selection of his 200+ organ preludes on Lutheran chorales.

    Saint Bartholomew’s Church was consecrated in 1867. The church has always been known for its High Anglican liturgical tradition, as well as its fine music. The choirs’ repertoire is fully representative of the major styles of choral music from the sixteenth century up to the present day. The church's three-manual organ was originally built in 1887 and is a central component of Saint Bartholomew's musical tradition.

    The premiere of Ceol sa Chroí, a specially commissioned piece by Neil Martin, joining the forces of National Folk Theatre musicians, classical musicians and the NFT choir.  Artist-in-Residence, Conor O’Grady will work with visitors to the gallery on an interactive project as well as showing visitors around his studio.  Casting Light on Ireland's Bronze Age: Artists, Holger Lonze and Karen Hendy will bring the story behind Ireland’s archaeological artefacts alive, casting replicas of small sculptures inspired by the archaeology of Kerry.

    On Your Doorstep: Celebrating Community Involvement in Culture

    This Culture Night the Parade, Kilkenny will be alive with the sounds and flavours of the street, with poets, choirs, bands and DJ's. Kilkenny Arts Office invites you to treat yourself to gourmet Tacos from the Bula Bus, chocolates from the Truffle Fairy and fresh coffee from Four Wheel Beans,  as you watch the young poets from the Rhyme Rag Ensemble, listen to Kairen Caine and the Unity Singers then shuffle your feet to the beats of the se7en inch collective.

    The se7ven inch collective pack up their record boxes and bring their special blend of vinyl only singles to the street, spinning everything from soul, hip hop, dub, ska, punk and more.....all beats will be catered for... let them culture you in the art of the seven inch.

    The Unity Singers were founded in 1967 by Jimmy Bateman. Since winning first prize in the Cork Choral Festival in 1975 they have gone on to win awards at numerous music festivals, even performing at Carnegie Hall to over 2000 people.

    Rhyme Rag New Word Leaders is a movement of young writers aged 13-18 who meet monthly in Desart Hall. The writers inspire and support each other through sharing their work, working with professional writers and building their community.

    Kairen Caine performs with guitarist Kevin Bruce and singer Mary Russell. Indie-folk and Folk-Country blend at the heart of Kairen Caine's songs. Based in rural Kilkenny surrounded by fields, forest and birdsong she's explored her writing and performing over the years through previous musical projects Muse Motel and Little Black Wren and has now begun a new musical chapter.

    St George’s Heritage & Visitor Centre

    The Leitrim Male Choir was formed in 2012 and over the years have raised money for many local charities. They have sung with Eleanor Shanley, Edwina McNulty, Cait Sammon Cullen to name just a few.  Singers in the choir are from all walks of life and are a voluntary group choir that sing for pleasure. They will be conducted by Siobhán Talbot and accompanied by Alla Crosbie & Mick Blake.

    Songs and Stories Hosted by Cahir to Sing

    Enjoy an evening of songs, stories and poetry in Cahir Castle hosted by Cahir to Sing Choir. The programme will consist of popular songs, stories and poems performed by the Choir and their guest ensemble and solo musicians.

    Different Voices – Live Music in the Library

    Different Voices promises to be an evening of superb music curated by the Tudor Artisan Hub. It will feature a range of performers including, Belle Voci, an all-female choir from Clonmel, pianist Ruth Lavelle playing classical music, Aibreán, a recently formed all girl folk/pop group, Melua, a new acoustic duo and Rubik Grigoryan, a young Armenian boy solo vocalist along with other children from Bridgewater House.

    The line-up will include the Gaelscoil na gCrann Choir and Bailéad Ghrúpa, all Ireland sean-nós dance champion Arlene McCarroll, singers, ceili dancers and much more.

    Voices and Music at Brick Lane

    The historic Brick Lane, in the heart of the Waterford Viking Triangle will host a performance by Waterford Youth Arts at 6.15pm. This will be followed at 7pm by a collaborative performance between City of Waterford Brass and The Mount Sion Choir. A musical treat not to be missed featuring the sounds of one of Waterford City’s oldest brass bands along with the multi-cultural voices of Waterfords newest and hottest choir whose members live and go to school in Waterford.

    Wexford Male Voice Choir at St. Iberius Church

    The Wexford Male Choir will present a selection of musical pieces taken from the vast repertoire of Wexford Male

    Voice Choirs 77 year history from modern classics to spiritual all performed by the oldest all Male choir in Ireland.

    Quay Notes at the National Opera House

    The Quay Notes community choir is a twenty five strong acappella group made up of both men and women. The choir has been together for eight years and has performed in various festivals and events throughout the county which includes The Kilmore Sea Food Festival and The Festival Of Choirs in Gorey amongst others. The Quay Notes perform song's from all over the world in several different languages and look forward to presenting a selection of these on Culture Night.
