Leitrim AOIC Members

The Millennium Choir

Based in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, in 1999 to celebrate the Millennium in a special way, this amateur adult SATB choir has performed continuously on an annual or 18-month basis ever since, giving well over 60 performances locally, regionally and internationally (e.g. St Patrick’s Cathedral in NY, Paris, Prague, and Rome, among others).   The choir members range in age from 17-70+ and are a mix of people from various backgrounds, many of whom sing in church choirs.

The choir is open to new members who are willing to commit to rehearsals and to sing as part of a group.  Our weekly rehearsals (except summer break) take place in the Carrick-on-Shannon Community School, with the male chorus tutored by Siobhan Talbot, and the women’s chorus by Alla Crosbie. The choruses come together at the end of most rehearsals and, closer to performance time, rehearse as one choir.

Most performances are accompanied by a 7/9-piece orchestra, with the choir performing a mix of sacred, popular, classical, movies & musicals, traditional and opera pieces.
