Aspiro, formerly Carlow Young Artists Choir

Aspiro, formed in 1997 by Mary Amond OBrien, offers a musical education of the highest artistic standards through the medium of choral music to young people in Carlow and surrounding counties. Aspiro caters for boys and girls aged 7 to 18 who experience a broad range of repertoire that provides musical challenges along a progressions path from Junior, Intermediate, Male Voice Squad and Senior. The senior ensemble (SATB) is the main concert and touring ensemble and meet twice a week, all other ensembles meet once a week.

Carlow Choral Society

Carlow Choral Society is a mixed-voice choir of 60 members (SATB) directed by Blanaid Murphy. We have a remarkable repertoire of many choral works such as Handel's Messiah, Bach's St. Mathews & St. John Passion, Verdi's Requiem, Haydn's The Creation & Seasons, Brahms Requiem & many more. We sing at home & abroad. In November 2011 the choir recorded a Christmas CD.  New members are welcome. We rehearse in St. Patrick's College, Carlow. Monday nights from 7.45-10pm. We are a very friendly, musical and sociable choir. You will find us also Facebook & Twitter.

Carlow Voices


Carlow Voices was established in 2002. It is a mixed SATB community-based choir in the Carlow area, created to provide an opportunity for singers to enjoy a challenging and rewarding musical experience.


This choir aims to provide a wide repertoire of choral music and prides itself on the quality and diversity of the music it performs with a repertoire which ranges from Classic to Contemporary, Secular & Religious, World & Irish music.


The past two years have seen the choir come 1st place in two competitions in National & International Choral Festivals.

In January 2017 the choir was delighted to announce the appointment of reknowned muscial director Mary Amond O’Brien. The choir has seen a marked increase in the standard and ambition in the work produced since her arrival. To add to this Carlow Voices has grown to 50 members at present. 

The Vision of Carlow voices is that singing enriches those who sing and those who Listen.

It is their mission that Carlow Voices aim to enrich its members through the enjoyable act of singing together with an individual commitment to be the best that they can be.

The choir rehearse every Tuesday 8-10pm in Scoil Muire, Carlow Town.

New members are taken at the choirs discretion and are encouraged to have the ability to sight read music.
