New sight reading course coming soon

AOIC Winter Sight Singing Course Nov/Dec 2009


AOIC’s Winter Sight Singing course commences on Saturday 7th November and will run every Saturday morning from 11am – 1pm for 6 weeks, (7/14/21/28 November & 5/12 December) in the Church of Ireland College of Education, Rathmines, Dublin 6.

A key element of the 2009/2010 Education Programme, the course is designed to meet the needs of amateur choir singers, musicians and students wishing to learn how to read music or to improve their basic reading skills.

Experienced tutors will allow you to develop your music reading ability, giving you the skills and confidence you may require for choir rehearsals. The panel of tutors includes Breda O’ Shea, Wendy Stevens and Dr Albert Bradhshaw.

Tuition will be offered at three levels - one or more classes may be offered at each level, subject to demand:

Level 1 - Beginner:
For absolute beginners with no prior knowledge of reading music.
Level 2 - Elementary:
For those with limited knowledge of reading music or music theory.
Level 3 - Intermediate:
For those who have some sight reading ability and wish to improve.

Topics covered include:
 • development of musicianship skills
 • use of solfa in sight reading
 • rhythm exercises
 • understanding notation
 • becoming aurally aware
 
Standard Fee: €125 (this fee includes annual membership of AOIC)
AOIC Members & Students: €95
Course fee includes 12 hours’ tuition and all materials.
