Baldonnel Singers

Established in 2003, The Baldonnel Singers is a 4 part, Male Voice Choir whose members live mainly in the South Dublin - North Kildare areas. Choir members span a diverse range of professions, county allegiance, vocal pitch, waist size and hairline ! The choir rehearses on a Tuesday evening from 8-10 pm at Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel in West Dublin, by kind permission of the Air Corps. Under the very able direction of our Musical Director, Margaret Hayes-Mahon, the choir has developed a wide and varied repertoire, which we perform in a number of concerts for charity each year at various venues around the country.

Ballinteer Male Voice Choir

Ballinteer Male Voice choir was founded in 1993, and numbers 30 members. Rehearsals are every Thursday in Our Lady's BNS, off Ballinteer Ave., from 8-10pm. Repertoire: Everything from pop to opera. BMVC has performed at many festivals in Europe, and hosts its own international male-voice festival every second year. Ability to read music is an advantage, but not essential.

Belvedere College Choir

The Belvedere College Choir is a boys SATB school choir, based in Dublin. The choir ‘team’ comprises Ruaidhrí O’Dálaigh conductor, Frances Stoker-Phelan assistant conductor and Marie-Louise Bowe Music Department. The choir rehearses every Friday from 3.30-6pm to facilitate the many concerts and competitions the choir is involved in. The Annual Carol service and Musical evening are the highlights, we maintain links with other schools, hosting choral projects and workshops. The choir’s repertoire varies from Fauré to the Beatles, Traditional Irish to World Music. The only requirement for admission to the choir is a love of singing and willingness to learn!

Blue Heaven Barbershop Chorus

The Blue Heaven Barbershop Chorus is a male-voice choir, specialising in barbershop singing, but also including sea-shanties, calypsoes and other male-voice music in its repertoire. Founded in 1980, it numbers 26 members. It has sung all over Ireland, and also in Paris, Prague, Bruges and Wales. Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings from 11.30 to 1pm, in Scoil Carmel, Firhouse Rd., close to exits 11 and 12 on the M50. New members are welcome at any time; an ability to harmonise with ease is a great advantage.

Cantóirí

Cantóirí is a mixed voice choir, which rehearses in Dublin City Centre on Monday nights. The choir’s repertoire spans the centuries from the Renaissance right up to current times.  Cantóirí’s particular speciality is folk music from all around the world; for this, the choir draws on the language skills of its many international members. Each year Cantóirí undertakes a range of activities including a number of concerts and competitions, as well as outreach performances in care centres, hospices and other charitable events. Cantóirí has performed in the National Concert Hall, Spiegeltent, the Pepper Canister Church, The Helix, and Whelan’s. An ability to sight read is an advantage, but is not a requirement.

Cappella Choir

Cappella Choir is a mixed voice choir of about 30 members established in 1998 by experienced conductor Vincent Whelan. The choir rehearses every Thursday in Dublin City Centre from 7.15pm - 9.15pm. We like to sing a mixed repertoire including light pieces, classical, sacred and Irish works. The choir has performed with international artists in the NCH and for the President of Ireland. We regularly sing at festivals at home and abroad and at charity concerts. Cappella has taken prizes in international choral competitions in Ireland and Britain. We welcome new members and while sight-reading is an advantage it is not essential.

Choir of Christ Church Cathedral

The choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin enjoys an enviable reputation as one of Ireland’s finest choirs. With the largest repertoire of any cathedral choir in the country, covering more than five centuries and including many works commissioned especially for it, the choir is a mixed–voice ensemble of 24 professional adult singers. The choir sings five choral services each week and also undertakes concerts, CD recordings and broadcasts on both the RTÉ www.rte.ie and BBC www.bbc.co.uk networks. It has toured extensively in Ireland, Europe and further afield. Excellent sight–reading skills required. Contact the Director of Music to arrange auditions.

Christ Church Cathedral Girls’ Choir

Christ Church Cathedral Girls’ Choir was established in 1995 offering girls aged between 11 and 17 the opportunity to receive the unique musical education that a cathedral can offer. Membership of the Girls’ Choir instils discipline and high standards - valuable assets in later life. The girls rehearse twice weekly, receiving expert training and voice tuition. The girls Evensong on Wednesdays during term and frequently join forces with the cathedral’s adult choir for major services and concerts. Choristers come from schools in the Dublin area and are given Chorister Scholarships. Potential applicants are offered an informal interview at any time.

Culwick Choral Society

The Culwick Choral Society (founded 1898 by Dr James C. Culwick, a co-founder of Feis Ceoil) is a mixed-voice amateur choir of 140 members working with a professional musical director and chorus master.  The Culwick performs with professional soloists and professional orchestral musicians in major venues such as the National Concert Hall and St Patrick’s Cathedral.  Annual performances include: a major work in Spring, a Christmas concert, two performances of Handel’s Messiah for a charity.  Rehearsals:  Wesley House, Leeson Park, Dublin 6, Thursdays, 7.45pm.  Membership enquiries welcome.  Sight-reading an advantage but not a requirement.

Diva Voces

Diva Voces is a female-voice choir established by experienced conductor, Liz Powell. The choir rehearses every Monday in a Dublin city centre venue from 7.30 - 9.30. Set up in 2006, the choir has grown both in standard and in size and now numbers 36 singers. The choir’s repertoire is wide-ranging; from Pergolesi to Cole Porter and encompasses classical, blues, jazz, spiritual and pop. New members are welcome at the start of each term. An ability to sight read is an advantage but not required. Diva Voces has featured on RTÉ Radio’s ‘The Business’ and ‘The Arts Show’ and performs concerts regularly.

Dolce

Dolce is a mixed voice choir (SATB) based on the northside of Dublin, with practices in Dominican College, Griffith Avenue, Thursdays 8pm-10pm.  We have a membership of around 50.  Dolce performs at concerts in the locality, as well as singing for charity and entering competitions. Musical styles include popular, classical, musicals, sacred, Irish, jazz.  New members are welcome, sight-reading is not a necessity but is an advantage, and an audition is required.  Why not come along and give it a try and see if you like it!

Enchiriadis Treis

Enchiriadis Treis is a mixed voice choir founded in 1994 by Musical Director Dr Marion Doherty Hayden. The choir rehearses every Thursday night in Scoil Iosa, Malahide, from 7.30 – 9.45. Since its establishment, the Choir has contributed greatly to its local community, by performing for local and national charities, and by regularly performing the major oratorios as well as other large-scale works with orchestra. The choir has travelled extensively in Europe where it likes to perform a wide range of music by Irish composers. New members are welcome, and Tenors are very welcome. An ability to sight read is not a requirement but is an advantage.

Fingal Chamber Choir

Fingal Chamber Choir was founded in September 2006 by its conductor, David Maxwell.  Members were recruited by advertising in the three free local newspapers in the Fingal area.  Fingal Chamber Choir is a mixed voice (SATB) choir performing music drawn mainly the classical sacred music repertoire with some light music thrown in. Programmes have included Fauré Requiem, Vivaldi Gloria and Osta Picta, Haydn’s Little Organ Mass. The choir also gives an annual Gala Christmas concert in the Macullins Centre, Lusk, Co. Dublin.   F.C.C. rehearses on Monday nights in Balbriggan from 7.30 to 9.30pm. New members are always welcome. The ability to sight singing is an advantage and there is an audition.

Firhouse Singers

The Firhouse Singers is a mixed voice choir, 50 strong, established in 1976 by Ray Ryan. It rehearses every Wednesday night (8-10) in Scoil Carmel, Firhouse Rd., close to exits 11 and 12 on the M50. The varied repertoire includes popular music, songs from the shows, calypsoes, spirituals, and the occasional light operatic chorus. The choir has sung in such venues as the National Concert Hall, Castletown House  and The Civic Theatre, raising tens of thousands of euro for charity over the years. New members are always welcome; ability to read music is not essential.

The Frascati Singers

Founded in 2001, the Frascati Singers is a mixed voice choral group based in Blackrock, Co Dublin, and now boasts a membership of over 30. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings from 8.00 - 10.00 pm. The choir sings compositions in a wide range of styles:- sacred, folk, popular, seasonal and contemporary, including some by founding director Mary Kelly.

Under current director, Mairéad Déiseach, the Frascati Singers continues its programme of participation in festivals, local concerts and charity support. New members, in particular men, are welcome to contact the choir through the e-mail below.

Goethe-Institut Choir, Dublin

The Goethe-Institut Choir boasts a refreshing mix of singers of all ages and many nationalities. Since its foundation in 1965, the Choir has been a vital and vibrant part of Dublin’s cultural life, enriching many events with its music.

The Choir performs at least three concerts per year, including the very popular Christmas Concert in the National Concert Hall, Dublin. The performance schedule also includes annual concerts performed in spring and summer, in addition to special events such as the St. Cecilia Orchestra’s Bach Cantata Series or the Carmichael Centre’s Good Friday concert held annually in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin

Guinness Choir

The Guinness Choir, a mixed voice choir of 120, was established in 1951 by the late Victor Leeson.  David Milne has been the Choir’s Musical Director since 1991.  The Choir performs large scale works with orchestra and its repertoire now includes many of the choral works of all the major composers.  In October 2008, the choir was joined by the Ulster Orchestra in a critically acclaimed all Bach programme. The choir rehearses each Tuesday evening in Dublin City Centre.  An ability to sight read is required.

Lambay Singers

The Lambay Singers is a mixed-voice community choir, established by Cliona Ardiff in 1998.  The choir rehearses every Thursday in the Waterside Hotel, Donabate, from 8.00 – 10.00 and performs regularly in Donabate and Swords, Co. Dublin.  The choir’s repertoire is very broad, ranging from early chant right through to modern jazz and pop.  New members are welcome to join at any time. You do not have to be able to read music and you will be supplied with pdfs and digital sound files to help you learn pieces outside of rehearsals.

Leinster Singers

The Leinster Singers (Ladies) Youth Choir was formed in January 2003 by their conductor Ann Fetherston,  evolving from St Pius X Dublin, church choir. They have been regular prizewinners at Feis Ceoil, Dublin and New Ross Music Festival. The Leinster Singers rehearse every Wednesday from 7.15 to 9.15 in south Dublin. They have sung at Siemens Feis Ceoil/National Concert Hall Young Platform Series and Siemens Feis Ceoil/European Parliament Concert, celebrating Ireland’s Presidency of the EU. There is a very friently atmosphere and new members are welcome.  An ability to sight read is not a requirement but is an advantage.

Mornington Singers

The Mornington Singers is an award-winning mixed-voice chamber choir conducted by Orla Flanagan. The 35 members come from all over Europe and further afield. Repertoire is broad with an emphasis on a capella and contemporary pieces. We perform concerts throughout the year both in Ireland and abroad. Recent venues included Leinster House, Electric Picnic and Tallinn, Estonia. Awards include 1st prizes at Cork Choral Festival and Lyric FM Choirs for Christmas. The Portmarnock Singers


The Portmarnock Singers is a mixed voice choir established in 1972 and its present Musical Director is Susan Haddon. Resurgam

Resurgam makes a unique and distinctive contribution to Ireland’s musical life, and is widely acknowledged to be one of the country’s most accomplished vocal ensembles. The choir was established in 2003 and is a project-based ensemble of up to 24 voices comprising some of Ireland’s finest choral singers. Resurgam has performed in many venues throughout Ireland and also in the UK, and has featured in several major Irish festivals, including the Cork International Choral Festival, Ardee Baroque and the Galway Early Music Festival. The choir has worked with many internationally renowned conductors, including Laurence Cummings, Christian Curnyn and Gary Cooper, as well as its own founder-director Mark Duley. Resurgam is supported by its very generous friends and patrons, and in 2009 by the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon. Singers interested in auditioning should contact the choir by email.

Revenue Choir

The Revenue Choir was formed in 2005.It is a mixed voice choir with a membership of 30 members..The choir rehearses every Tuesday evening in Dublin city centre from 6pm to 8pm.The choir has performed at a number of Revenue functions including the annual mass in the Pro-Cathedral and in Farmleigh House before an invited international audience. One of the highlights of the choir’s 2007 calendar was singing for the Taoiseach and the press just before Christmas. New members are welcome to join and an ability to sight read is not a requirement.

St Therese Church Adult Choir

St Therese Church Adult Choir is a long-established mixed voice choir, currently under the musical direction of Brian Ingoldsby. The choir rehearses every Sunday in St Therese Church, from 10:45 a.m. and sings at the 12:30 p.m. mass. It also provides musical support for the special liturgies at Christmas, Holy Week and Eastertide. The choir’s repertoire covers a broad span of styles, languages and sources, from plainchant through renaissance polyphony to Taizé chant and robust 19th- and 20th-century hymnody, including works specially composed for the choir. New members are welcome at any time. An ability to read music is not a requirement but is an advantage.
