Cantairi Mhuscrai

Cantairi Mhuscrai is a mixed-voice choir, conducted by Mary O’Brien. The choir rehearses every Wednesday in Ballincollig Community School from 7.30 – 9.30. The choir draws its repertoire from a wide range of music, classical, Irish and popular pieces. We perform regularly at local events and compete also in various competitions around Ireland. Every second year the choir travels abroad to take part in music festivals. Destinations have included Paris, Rome, Corfu, Rhodes, Vienna, Verona, London. New members are welcome to join at the start of each term. An ability to sight read is not a requirement.

Cantate

CANTATE is a mixed voice choir with accomplished musical director Mark Slade at the helm.  We are a young vibrant group, based in Monkstown, have been in existence for the last 3 years and have been quite successful in our endeavours, having won the Lynch Perpetual trophy in Feis Maitiu 2 years running.  We sing a very varied repertoire.  We rehearse on Wednesday nights and are currently recruiting for new members in all parts.  Sight-reading is not essential but is a distinct advantage as is previous choir experience.  Auditions can be arranged via email address, as noted below.

Carbery Choral Society


Carbery Choral Society, an SATB choir, was established in 1996 by its present musical director Nancy Long. There are circa thirty members. Rehearsals are weekly in the hall adjacent to St Fachtna's Cathedral Rosscarbery. Secular repertoire covers all areas: modern, traditional, folk, jazz, and Negro Sprituals. Sacred music is performed regularly in the local churches. The choir has two to three concerts per year and raises money for worthy causes. Most of the time it's very enjoyable and generally very good fun. New members always welcome.

Carrigaline Singers


The Carrigaline Singers share a love of singing and travel and have successfully married the two over the last 40 years.  They have performed and competed in many parts of the world.  Most recently they were awarded a bronze medal at the World Choir Games 2008 in Graz, Austria. Previously, the choir has won at various festivals throughout Ireland competing regularly at AIMS, Limerick Church Music Festival and the Cork International Choral Festival. The highly accomplished musical director Mary O'Brien  B Mus GDE Mus Dip KOD Intz ME Mus has been with the choir for the past 4 years.  Carrigaline Singers meet on Tuesday night in Carrigaline from 8-10pm.

Cór Cois Abhann Corcaigh


Cór Cois Abhann Corcaigh is a mixed voice choir established in 1990. The choir has approximately 50 members and rehearses every Tuesday in The Lough Community Hall Greenmount, Cork City from 8pm-10pm. We perform in concerts, choral festivals and selected competitions throughout the year under the direction of Ian Sexton. We have a broad repertoire ranging from classical to popular music including traditional carols at Christmas time. We are a friendly bunch and also organise social events for our members. New members are welcome to join at the start of the each term. An ability to sight read is not a requirement but is an advantage.

Cor Mhagh Ealla

Cor Mhagh Ealla is a secular 4-part choir of approximately 47 members, established in September 2001 on the initiative of a member of Arts Alliance Mallow. Since then the choir has been building its repertoire and sings a mixture of music to suit all tastes - from Irish traditional and early sacred music to Billy Joel, from Spirituals to Swing! Cor Mhagh Ealla participaties regularly in choral festivals and competitions at home and abroad including Cork International Choral Festival, Limerick Festival of Church Music, Feis Maitiu, Midleton Choral Festival and A.I.M.S. Festival, New Ross, and has received critical acclaim and has been placed in several competitions. While members take the business of singing very seriously they are equally determined to enjoy themselves. The choir has a warm and friendly atmosphere and its social agenda is very important.

Cork Chamber Choir

Cork Chamber Choir was founded in 2005 and is conducted by Helen McGrath. The group now comprises 20 singers, an equal number of male and female voices with members from Ireland, Angola, France and Serbia. Since it was founded the choir has given 2 performances in Rosscarbery, in Civic Trust House as part of Culture Night 2008, in the Honan Chapel, UCC as part of the Cork International Choral Festival Fringe Series 2009 and in the Spiegeltent as part of Cork Midsummer Festival 2007. The choir has also participated in competition, in Feis Maithiu, Cork (first prize-winners in 2007) and Sligo International Choral Festival.

Rehearsals are held Sunday mornings in Douglas, Cork. Cork Chamber Choir auditions new members when section places become available.

Cork East Male Voice Choir


Formed in 2008, this choir has gone from strength to strength, with a total of 26 members working under Musical Director Marguerite O'Sullivan.The choir could be described as a regional choir with members from Cork City and throughout the East Cork Region. Rehearsals are held at the Edmund Rice Centre adjacent to the Midleton C.B.S. on Tuesday evenings at 8pm. The choir recently preformed with Fr Liam Lawton in concert at the Most Holy Rosary Church Midleton.

Crosshaven Singers


Crosshaven Singers is a mixed voice choir based in Crosshaven Co. Cork for the last 26 years. The choir rehearses every Thursday night from 7:45 to 9:30pm in the Royal cork Yacht Club in Crosshaven. The choir enjoys singing in all of its guises from a Sunday mass or service to the Cork International Choral Festival or the Aims Festival in New Ross. The choir also travel aboard every 2 - 3 years and competed in Verona in 2007. New members are welcome to join at any time.

East Cork Choral Society


East Cork Choral Society is a mixed voice choir, established in 1979, which specialises in singing 2 oratorios a year, always with professional soloists and orchestra. Members come from Cork City and the East Cork area to Midleton every Thursday in term time 8 – 10.00p.m. New members are always welcome, there are no auditions, and line tapes are used to help the learning process. The conductor, Colin Nicholls, has been with the choir since 1981 and he ensures that the practices are fun and the concerts of the highest standard.

Killeagh Choir


The SATB Killeagh Choir which also comprises CANTORUM, (ladies) is based in Killeagh Co. Cork. Formed since 1994, it has featured on RTE Television in 2002 and 2006 and features on Festival Highlights CD of 2005. It has won all the major titles at Feis Maitiu over the past six years. 1st prize-winners at Cork Choral Festival and AIMS in 2005 and 2007, and in 2008 were 1st prize winners at Limerick Church Music Festival. The Ladies won the National Premier Competition for female choirs at the Cork International Choral Festival in 2008.

Note Perfect


Note Perfect is a mixed vocal harmony group from Ballincollig, Co.Cork. Under conductor Rose Griffin, it performs a light jazz and pop repertoire including well-known popular standards, 1940s through to 1970s. The group also has a large church music repertoire, regularly performing at weddings in the Cork area. Rehearsals take place each Thursday at Coláiste Choilm, Ballincollig, 7.45 - 9.30pm. We consider new members as the need arises, maintaining numbers at approximately twenty two singers. An ability to sight read music is an advantage but the ability to hold a tune and blend into the overall sound is equally important.

Orpheus Choir

The Orpheus Choir is an adult mixed voice choir with forty-five members. It was founded in 2005 by its Musical Director, Hilary Reynolds, and it performs secular choral music of the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Choir practices are held on Mondays, 8pm - 10pm from September to April. Since its foundation, the choir has performed around Co. Cork and also in Waterford, notably, in 2007, in the North Cork Classical Music Festival and, in 2008, as guests in a concert given by Mary Hegarty at St Colman's School, Fermoy. Hilary Reynolds received her musical training at the Royal Academy of Music in London and, as well as conducting, works as a professional singer and vocal coach. A few high tenors would be most welcome at any time!

PfizerPfonics


PfizerPfonics was established in September 2003 under their Musical Director Bernadette Kiely. It is a mixed-voice choir of 42 members. The choir consists of staff members of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Ireland, but is not confined to employees of the company. We sing in competitions, carol services, hospitals, charity fundraisers, art exhibitions, corporate receptions, weddings, funerals and other events. The choir rehearses on Tuesdays 7-9 Douglas, Cork. Tenors and basses are particularly welcome. Ability to read music an advantage, but not essential.

The Munster Rugby Supporters Club Choir


The Munster Rugby Supporters Club Choir is a mixed voice choir, set up by the Munster Rugby Supporters Club in March 2008. Anita Mahon is the musical director and members are from all counties of Munster. The choir's first performance was at the official opening of Thomond Park this November for the Munster v New Zealand game. Since then, the choir have sung at several other matches and corporate events. The repertoire includes all the rugby classics and a variety of modern, doo wop and gospel songs. Members of the Supporters Club are invited to join the choir in August.

UCC Choral Society


UCC Choral Society is a mixed voice choir (SATB) of UCC. students of all disciplines. One of the oldest societies in UCC, the choir rehearses every Tuesday in the Geography Building from 7.30-9.30pm. The focus of the choir is the annual “Carols by Candlelight” Concert in the Honan Chapel, a Rag Week performance and an international competition during the Easter break. New members are always welcome, ability to read music is not necessary but can be helpful.
