AOIC Sight-Singing Courses
A key element of our 2010 Education Programme, the AOIC Sight-singing Course is designed to meet the needs of amateur choir singers who wish to learn how to read music or to improve their basic reading skills. Under the guidance of Bernie Sherlock [Artistic Director, AOIC Education Programmes], experienced tutors will allow you to develop your music reading ability, giving you the skills and confidence you require for choir rehearsals.
Following feedback from previous participants, we have extended the course by 2 weeks.
DATES & VENUE
Provisional dates for the autumn course are 9, 16, 23 October; 6,13, 20, 27 November and 4 December.
TUITION
Tuition will be offered at at least 3 levels:
Level 1 - Beginner
For absolute beginners with no prior knowledge of theory of music.
Level 2 - Elementary
For those with limited knowledge of the rudiments of theory of music.
Level 3 - Pre-Intermediate
For those who have studied theory of music to some degree, and wish to further their understanding.
Topics covered include:
· development of musicianship skills
· use of solfa in sight reading
· rhythm exercises
· understanding notation
· becoming aurally aware
