AOIC's 30th Annual Choral Conducting Summer School kicks off on Sunday 15th August in the University of Limerick. An integral part of the Summer School is the range of workshops and masterclasses which are open to members of the public.

Wednesday, 18 August, 7pm: Conducting Masterclass with Peter Erdei and Gabriella Thesz in association with Irish Chamber Orchestra Chorus

The Association of Irish Choirs (AOIC) presents its 30th Annual Choral Conducting Summer School for all conductors, teachers, music students, choral enthusiasts and musicians. The only one of its kind in Ireland, this six-day intensive course offers a wealth of expertise in a friendly and supportive environment, and caters to the full spectrum – from beginner to experienced and established conductors.
The tutors are all active conductors who are also experienced teachers of conducting. Participants at all levels will develop and refine their core conducting skills, with more advanced classes focusing on areas such as rehearsal technique, interpretation, vocal technique, style, and language.
Offering tuition at five levels, Beginner, Foundation, Transition, Intermediate and Advanced, the course offers the opportunity to learn from Irish and International conductors and trainers through practical sessions and peer observation. A series of workshops and talks will also be offered by a range of Irish and visiting experts during the week. Participants will also take part in class singing and choir activities, masterclass sessions and concert opportunities.
The tutors for the 2010 course are Martin Barrett, Peter Erdei, Ite O’Donovan, Bernie Sherlock and Gabriella Thész. The course will take place in The World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick.
