Conductors, singers and musicians wising to develop their skills can choose from a number of training and professional development opportunities, such as courses, masterclasses and mentoring positions offered by AOIC.

Annual Choral Conducting Summer School

AOIC’s 30th Annual Choral Conducting Summer School will take place from Sunday 15th to Friday 20th August.

We are delighted to announce the line-up of tutors this year includes international Master Teachers Peter Erdei and Gabriella Thész who will be joined by Irish conductors and tutors Martin Barrett, Ite O’Donovan and Bernie Sherlock.

Sight Singing Courses

A key element of our Education Programme, the AOIC Sight-singing Course is designed to meet the needs of amateur choir singers who wish to learn how to read music or to improve their basic reading skills. Under the guidance of Bernie Sherlock [Artistic Director, AOIC Education Programmes], experienced tutors will allow you to develop your music reading ability, giving you the skills and confidence you require for choir rehearsals.

Spring and Winter Conducting Courses

These course will provide practical, hands-on training to conductors, teachers, musicians, students and those interested in becoming involved in conducting.

The courses consist of 20 hours of tuition, allowing students to put into practice what they have learned at each session. The participants form the choir, while receiving ample opportunity to conduct and observe. Choir singer and Observer positions are available on all courses.

Masterclass for Conductors with Brady Allred, 2nd May 2010

The Association of Irish Choirs, in conjunction with Cork International Choral Festival presented a Masterclass for Conductors with Brady Allred and Tribal Chamber Choir on Sunday 2nd May 2010.

This is the second year of this initiative and we hope to present it again at next year's festival. We look forward to seeing you there.

In association with Cork CIT School of Music

Conductor in Training auditions will take place on Monday 26th April in Dublin City University for the 2010 Irish Youth Choir and National Chamber Choir joint position.

petitive mentoring opportunity is open to musicians in the early stages of their conducting career who have had some experience of conducting choirs. Candidates should be under 35 years of age on 4th July 2010.
