Board of Directors
Board of Directors of AOIC:
AOIC currently has a number of vacancies on its board of directors. If you would like to become involved in this area, please email us.
Diarmuid Ó Dálaigh, Chairman
Diarmuid Ó Dálaigh is a company Director and proprietor of B & D Healthcare Ltd which operates a Nursing Home in Cork and has worked professionally in the areas of Education and Training Management for over ten years. He had responsibility for the establishment of a new Institute of Education and Culture where he secured significant funding for this non-profit venture and worked with and promoted various art forms including choral music. Diarmuid is delighted to be a part of the Choral sector in Ireland through AOIC at this exciting time as it seeks to develop and support the choral community in new ways.
David Maxwell
Native Dubliner, David Maxwell is organist and director of music at St. Joseph’s Church, Berkeley Road, Dublin and is conductor of Fingal Chamber Choir and Voces Amicabiles Chamber Choir. He has previously conducted the Portmarnock Singers and The Phoenix Singers. He has many years of choral experience both as a singer, conductor and teacher. He was a member of the RTE Chorus and the RTE Philharmonic Choir amongst others. For 10 years he taught music at Fingal Community College in Swords Co. Dublin.
Derry O’Carroll
Derry O'Carroll is a chorister and has been an active member of choirs in Waterford City for the last 10 years. By profession he is a solicitor and has been in general practice with his own firm in Waterford City for the last 20 years.
Magdalen O'Connell
Recently retired from a senior position in the National University of Ireland (Merrion Square), Magdalen is a native of Castlebar, County Mayo and lives in Dublin, having spent several years in the USA. She is a long-standing member of the Culwick Choral Society, of which she was President for three years. Through her experience in that role, and also through the wider experience of participating in meetings with representatives of other Dublin choirs that perform major choral works, Magdalen is familiar with the ups and downs of amateur choirs. Being a member of the Board of AOIC has been a revelation regarding the mission and accomplishments of AOIC, and she feels that greater awareness of AOIC throughout the amateur choral community would be mutually beneficial.
